Educating for Spirituality’s (EfS) proposal to teach in a day-long, pre-conference, intensive seminar at NewCAJE7 recently won a “featured presenter” contest. Rabbis Lori Shaller and Rain Zohav will be teaching the intensive entitled “Lighting up the Souls of Your Students,” and three workshops during the Conference: “Big Words of Prayer,” “Using Environmental Art to Teach Jewish Themes,” and “Five Creative Examples of How to Bring Prayers to Life”. The seminar is essentially an EfS mini course and has been categorized by NewCAJE as “spiritual,” an apt designation for two ALEPH Rabbis! (NewCAJE 7 is July 31-August 3, North Central College, Naperville, IL.)

EfS’s mission is to enhance authentic spirituality in religious education and communal life by creating and providing resources and training to educators and clergy of all faith traditions.  EfS fulfills its mission through summer intensives. We will be at the ALEPH Kallah this July in Fort Collins offering our Educating for Spirituality Summer Institute (PM321). We offer semester-long, on-line courses such as “Teaching Prayer with Spirit,” “Social Action Education as A Spiritual Practice,” and “B’nai Mitzvah as A Spiritual Journey.” We also consult with congregations and communities seeking to imbue their religious school programs with a heightened spiritual awareness, making space for students and their teachers to discover, deepen, access and express their spirituality.

We encourage you to sign up for the Kallah Institute if you are doing any education in a religious setting and to encourage those you know engaged in religious education to come to the Institute. There are 25 slots available, and EfS offers scholarships that can be combined with Kallah work-study to make the Institute affordable. Please contact us directly at efs@aleph.org with any questions or to inquire about consulting in your program. We look forward to hearing from you!
