Dear Spiritual Friend of Reb Zalman z”l,
These days—after Reb Zalman embarked on his “next deployment”—bring deep grief and profound love. Reb Zalman touched thousands with such transformative power: his courage and transparency, even in the valley of the shadow of death, offer exquisite lessons for living into the days to come.
ALEPH has received inquiries about the August event that was to honor Reb Zalman’s 90th birthday. Reb Zalman’s explicit wish was for ALEPH to continue the event, even if he no longer could be with us in body.
Honoring Reb Zalman’s request, ALEPH will evolve the RZ90 event into:
Remembering Reb Zalman
Omni Interlocken Hotel & Boulder Theater
August 15-17, 2014
In the coming days, we will be developing practical ways to encourage broad attendance both in Colorado and via remote participation, befitting the purpose of this important gathering.
Details will come soon. These days of shiva are for each of us to fully inhabit grief’s spectrum of emotion, in all its colors and shades. Reb Zalman’s light shone brightly and will continue to shine in and through us, even and especially in times of darkness.
We pray that the soul of our beloved Reb Zalman, may his memory bless us, should continue to rise and shine like the brightness of the firmament. May the Holy One of Presence comfort Reb Zalman’s beloved wife Eve, his children, and all who grieve among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
B’shalom,
R. Jeremy Parnes
