Our hearts are aching. We pray for the souls of those lost and for the healing of those hurt. ALEPH condemns, in the strongest terms, the atrocious acts perpetrated against innocent lives. We seek the immediate release of all who have been taken hostage. We stand in solidarity with the people of Israel, who are currently enduring a harrowing and ongoing violent assault led by Hamas. This is a dangerous time, one filled with grief, sorrow, anger, and despair. We urge restraint on all sides to not let revenge lead to the spilling of more innocent blood.

While our hearts are heavy and our spirits angered, we hold steadfast to our intrinsic Jewish values of cherishing life, of love, and of peace. We believe in the power of unity and the strength that comes from a collective desire for tranquility and security for all people in this beloved region.

We send prayers for comfort and healing to the families of those who have been lost. We must hold steadfast to hope for a better future. In the face of adversity, let us remember the words from the Book of Psalms: “Seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14). Our commitment to peace does not waver, even amidst the current chaos, pain and suffering. We will continue to support skillful efforts that seek a peaceful resolution among all people who cherish the land of Israel/Palestine and call it home.

We encourage our community to stay informed, to engage in constructive dialogue, and to support one another during these trying times. Together, we will navigate through this darkness and, God willing, emerge into a brighter future where peace reigns supreme.
