It is with great sorrow that we in the extended ALEPH family
write to inform you of the passing of our beloved colleague and friend
Rabbi Shoni Labowitz, z”l

Rabbi Shoni was ordained by Reb Zalman in 1987. Along with her husband and rabbinic partner Rabbi Phil Labowitz, she pioneered in bringing Jewish Renewal to South Florida, hosting Reb Zalman for countless teaching engagements and together founding Temple Adath Or, The South Florida Center for Jewish Renewal. TAO remains infused with her light, love and energy under the inspired leadership of their son, Rabbi Marc Labowitz.

Our hearts are with Rabbi Phillip Labowitz, Rabbi Marc and Paulina Labowitz, Galia, Ocean & Kole Kerev, Reb Arik and Aliza Labowitz, Judah & Noah, and Pierre & Christina Labowitz, Marina & Matthew and the entire family on the loss of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother. and spiritual guide.

May her memory, her legacy, her artistic vision and her inspiring creativity be an ongoing blessing for us all

Blessed be our Judgement of Truth….
How is it that my feeling is that Rabbi Shoni would be immortal?
Now, behind her name, amongst all of the illustrious accolade abbreviations I read… OBM …. z”l.
Where are the abbreviations that represent the Spirit of Shoni?
The letters that one can see her depth of relationship with Ein Sof??
The depth with which Shoni lives on today, in her children, grandchildren… in the lives she enriched with her Wisdom?
The energetic earthbound entity known as Shoshana is no longer needed…
Shoshana the Soul is untethered, soaring, energizing, her Sparks embraced by her Source, to begin a new journey…..
It is with the greatest humility and gratitude that I speak of Rabbi Shoni as my mentor, through her book, “Miraculous Living” which was a guide of restoration for me,
as my beloved friend who told me, “Continue to bless people as only you can bless them…”….. an unfathomable depth of insight…
One whose life has been so permanently enriched through knowing and being loved by Rabbi Shoni, as I have been, cannot see OBM…. z”l.
My Spark can only see a new Lightning Bolt connecting Heaven and Earth, writing, Shoshana in the sky.

As the Shloshim for Rabbi Shoni Labowitz completes I am reminded of the way we came into connection. I was introduced to TAO, her beloved community through a man I was “long distance” dating in 2007. To my disappointment she was not visible in the shabbat services I attended & I remember feeling sad and taking that sadness into my own prayer of surrender to God’s will. Fast forward 10 years of which took me to my own Ordination and journey to Northern California and back to South Florida. I needed to find a place to dwell and posted a request for such in a Jewish in South Florida Facebook Group. She extended me an olive branch and provided me a woman to contact. I was graced by her and that was all God wanted for us in this life. May your soul Shoni be shining by all the love you have gifted us. I will meet you at your grave today… and maybe in the next life we will dance again. Shekhinah Blessings, Rabbi Melinda Bernstein
